Concert & Performance
In ›Flatland‹, described in a virtuoso manner by Edwin A. Abbott in 1884, the residents live in a two-dimensional world. They have simple geometric shapes: women and slaves are simple lines; the higher the number of pages, the higher the social standing. Social advancement and lack of opportunities are explained and caricatured geometrically. In the same universe, playfully multidimensional, lies ›Land of the Flats‹, the second major joint production by Brigitte Wilfing and Jorge Sánchez-Chiong (after Wien Modern 2014). Dance and music are inseparable parts of a whole, musical instruments are extensions of the body. Geometric shapes, virtual 3D game figures and human bodies combine in a dialectical form of choreography and composition.
